Ellgia appoints two new directors
Ellgia Recycling has appointed two new directors tasked with strengthening the company’s position in eastern England.
The independent commercial waste management company has turned to new technical director Cameron Murdoch and operations director Jack Lavington. The pair will oversee three sites in Ely, Boston and Scunthorpe.

Mr Murdoch has 25 years’ operational and consulting experience. He has worked as a process engineer, a technical expert, a management consultant and a senior leader for the United Nations development programme, the Global Environmental Facility and the BBC.
Mr Lavington has joined Ellgia from Certas Energy, where he was director of operations for England and Wales. Jack has 25 years of experience in the waste management and environmental sector in commercial and operational positions.
Steve Crook, managing director of Ellgia, said: “Jack and Cameron are extremely talented people and they will be invaluable to Ellgia. We are very much looking forward to having them as part of the team. The combined knowledge and skills they have amassed from senior positions is phenomenal.”

Axion appoints new commercial operations manager
Laura Smith has been appointed as Axion Polymers’ commercial operations manager at its plastics processing site in Salford.
She has replaced Steve Bell, who has left the company after 15 years.

Mr Bell joined the company in September 2001. He originally started at the company as a polymer producer.
Mr Bell said: “There have been many changes to the process equipment and staff over the years, but the focus has always been on making high-quality plastics and giving good customer service. Now that the big changes of the last 10 years are nearing completing the time seems right to move onto a new challenge.”
According to Axion, Ms Smith has had success for the company in developing new markets for separated materials produced at the company’s automotive shredder waste plant in Trafford Park.
She said: “I am looking forward to the challenge of growing production output and developing new products for our target markets in automotive, electricals and other durable product sectors. There is a great team at Salford with a huge depth of experience and I am sure we can continue as a winning team following Steve’s departure.”

Jaume Escoriza has joined Luxus
Lincolnshire-based plastics recycling and compounding firm Luxus is aiming to expand its operations after appointing a new business development manager.
Jaume Escoriza has joined Luxus, which is based in Louth, Lincolnshire from vacuum excavation company, Vac-Ex. Previously he had been a general manager at Vac-Ex for five years and was responsible for the company’s design, manufacture and sales division.

In his new role Mr Escoriza expected to build on Luxus’s existing client base in a range of industries such as automotive; civil engineering; retail logistics; horticulture and safety products.
He said: “I’ve been looking for potential employment in the Lincolnshire area; this was the first role that genuinely excited me thanks to a combination of its 51 year pedigree, a strong export focus and being a true leader in its field.
“The lure of learning too, about new innovative thermoplastics products was heightened by the fact that Luxus’ highly specified compounds are engineered with a recycled content. Working for a business that is helping responsible clients to reduce landfill is a great bonus too.”

Recolight has appointed two new board directors
Lighting WEEE compliance scheme Recolight, has appointed two new directors to its board.
Andreas Adam, former senior director at Osram AG has joined the Recolight board to replace Julian Schaub.

Mr Adam has considerable knowledge of the WEEE directive and its implementation in a number of other EU member states, Recolight states.
And, Martin De Jager, international board member of Phillips Lighting has re-joined the Recolight board.
He has replaced Maurice Loosschilder, who now heads up the Phillips Lighting sustainability team, having served as Recolight chair for 18 months.
Mr De Jager has been in the lighting industry for over 36 years, and also has EU-wide WEEE expertise.
Mr Adam will become Recolight chair for two years, with Mr De Jager taking on the role in 2018.
Nigel Harvey, Recolight chief executive, said: “We are delighted that Martin and Andreas have joined the board.
“Their wide ranging experience of both WEEE and lighting will be invaluable to us. The combined board has the breadth of experience to support the continued growth of Recolight, and the standards on which our reputation is founded.”

Untha brings in Asian Pacific specialist
Untha has appointed a new industrial shredder specialist, who will be responsible for the company’s growth in the Asian Pacific market.
Andreas Senkbeil joins with a wealth of relevant waste management experience, having worked in the sector for four years.

Mr Senkbeil will meet the company’s partners in countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, China and Australia.
Peter Streinik, head of Untha’s waste business unit said: “Having spent some time in Asia myself, I am aware of Andreas’ presence in this part of the world, and his knowledge of local waste markets, cultures and alternative fuel production opportunities. This will prove crucial as we look to expand in what is fast becoming an incredibly important area for our global business.
“The waste landscape here is very diverse, so we are working hard to show different Asian Pacific organisations how they can improve the stability of their resource infrastructure, whilst boosting their profitability, with the help of clever waste to energy technology.”
