Andusia and Sackers sign RDF supply contract

Waste to fuel specialist Andusia has signed a Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) supply contact with Ipswich-based recycling firm Sackers.

As part of the agreement, the companies will supply 10,000 tonnes of RDF over the next year to the Dutch Energy from Waste plant AVR.

The waste will be recovered and used to provide electricity, steam and heating to the local area, according to a statement from Andusia.

Nigel Slinn, commercial director at Sackers, said: “Recycling is our thing, therefore sending our commercial waste to be converted into new energy is essential to us and meets our environments goals.”

Sackers, which specialises in scrap metal but also has a general waste management division, was founded in 1929, and “has a wealth of knowledge and experience in both metal and waste recycling”,  Andusia said.

Contracts

The deal comes amid a flurry of contracts for Andusia in recent weeks.

The ‘Copenhill’ combined heat and power plant (Amager Ressourcecenter)

Last month it secured a three year 60,000 tonnes deal with EVI, located on the German-Dutch border and an 8,000 tonne agreement up to Dec 2020 with Jönköping Energi’s Torsvik plant, in Sweden.

The company also extended its bulk shipping deal with ARC (Amager Ressourcecenter), at their “Copenhill’ facility, based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

It now has a contract with the Danish plant to supply 30,000 tonnes per annum to the combined heat and power plant for the next two years.

  • Simon Little, the former commercial director of Cory Riverside Energy, was also recently appointed to the Andusia board (see letsrecycle.com story).
