This is thought to be the first case of its type to go before the sub-committee, which today published its report on Delivering Sustainable Waste Management. No details have been released about the allegation.
ENTRUST is the trading name of the Environmental Trust Scheme Regulatory Body Ltd, and is the private sector not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee which is approved by Customs & Excise as the sole regulator of the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme. It is not a registered charity, but is not for profit. ENTRUST's prime responsibilities are to enrol qualifying organisations as Environmental Bodies (EBs) and to audit and inspect their activities to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Landfill Tax Regulations 1996.
It is expected that Entrust Chairman Lord Cranbrook will appear before the committee as well as chief executive Dick Sills on Wednesday 28 March at 10.30am.
The evidence session will take place in public, unless otherwise decided by the Sub-committee, at Westminster. It is likely to be held in the Palace itself, which is accessed via St Stephen's Entrance, opposite Westminster Abbey, but may be held in Portcullis House, which is accessed from the Victoria Embankment.
