AfOR announces finalists for 2011 awards

The Association for Organics Recycling (AfOR) has announced the finalists for its annual awards which are taking place at the Birmingham Metropole on February 10.

Thirteen entries have been shortlisted across five categories, ranging from a Local Authority Partnership Award to Bio-waste Site Manager Award.

The awards recognise achievements in the organics recycling industry, as well as providing a perfect opportunity for networking with other industry professionals. It is due to take place following AfOR's annual conference – at which recycling minister Lord Henley is due to give the keynote speech.

Jeremy Jacobs, managing director of AfOR, said: “We received lots of innovative entries this year which demonstrated initiative in a difficult market place. I would like to make a point of thanking everyone who entered.”

This award recognises the work of compost and digestate producers throughout the UK in marketing their products, researching and generating markets and promoting the benefits of biological treatment and using the outputs. The award showcases innovation, impact and excellence in marketing strategies on all scales from local to international.
