The scheme was first launched in October 2023 and allows companies to trade in smartphones and tablets.

The trade-ins have earnt companies nearly £330,000.

Dana Haidan, chief sustainability officer at Virgin Media O2, said: “We know businesses want simple solutions to help them become more sustainable.

“That’s why Virgin Media O2 is leading the way in helping companies to reduce tOkay phew ahaheir waste, recycle their unwanted tech, and reuse their unwanted devices.

“Businesses can also play a vital role in supporting digital inclusion by accessing tech donation programmes, where their unused devices can be given a second life and used by someone in need, helping them to get online, access essential websites and build digital skills.”

Once traded in, the tech is wiped, repaired and refurbished, and then resold or recycled – with zero parts going to landfill.

The service is open to companies of all sizes regardless of their mobile provider.

Organisations simply need to register the device and arrange a free courier collection.

The scheme is also open to those who work remotely who can use a QR code to post their items to O2 Recycle for free.

Companies are able to receive cashback, credit towards new devices or donate the funds to charity Good Things Foundation.

The foundation works to support digital inclusion projects across the UK.

Alternatively, the Tech Donation programme allows businesses to rehome their unwanted devices straight to people in need.

O2 Recycle for Business may help organisations lower their Scope 3 emissions by ensuring that devices are properly disposed of.

The scheme also provides a carbon calculator to help organisations understand their carbon footprint.

Virgin Media O2 estimated that there are approximately 11.8 million unused business devices in the UK which could be reused or recycled.
