This webinar will bring together the latest thinking about how to put residents at the heart of the mounting food waste challenges that all local authorities currently face.

The provision of food waste services is still inconsistent across the UK, and is under review in the current Defra consultation. However an estimated £9.7bn of food waste continues to be generated each year & the consultation outcomes aren’t due for implementation until 2023. With 70% of food waste coming from household consumption, this puts local authorities on the front line of the battle to collect and reduce the amount of food waste generated by households.

Creating sustained behaviour change amongst residents is the objective for local authorities. Attendees will:

1) Hear from stakeholders that have adopted the latest thinking to optimise collections,

2) Understand cutting edge techniques to engage with & motivate residents to reduce the amount of food waste generated, and get residents recycling their food waste.

3) Hear from colleagues that are managing to reduce food waste without a collection service.
