H Ripley & Co

H Ripley & Co, a fourth-generation family-owned business, is a supplier and exporter of processed ferrous and non-ferrous metals, supplying steelworks and refineries in the UK and overseas.

The business operates across a range of recycling and waste management activities, including lead acid battery recycling, WEEE processing for both business-to-business and household streams, aluminium shredding and end-of-life vehicle (ELV) depollution.

H Ripley & Co is also an authorised treatment facility (ATF) for ELVs and is approved to issue Certificates of Destruction.

Additional services include skip hire, with both roll-on roll-off and secure container options, alongside bulk material collection services.

At the time of closure, the company operated five sites across the Southeast of England.

These include facilities in Hailsham, Hastings and Newhaven in East Sussex, as well as two sites in Ashford, Kent.

The business accepts scrap metal from a wide customer base, ranging from householders to large multinational companies.

Following processing, materials are sold as recycled products to major metal refiners across Europe and further afield, including destinations such as Germany, Italy, Spain, France and India.

Through its subsidiary, Ripley Auto Spares, the group also undertakes vehicle salvage and dismantling services, supplying parts to garages, insurers, local authorities and members of the public.
