A total of 72 firefighters and 10 fire engines were called to tackle the blaze at the LondonWaste Ltd-run facility on Advent Way at 21.54pm on Saturday (26 March).

The fire, which was contained to a waste transfer centre on-site, destroyed 500 tonnes of domestic refuse and took six hours to extinguish.
Fire crews from Edmonton, Chingford, Walthamstow, Tottenham, Woodford, Enfield, Stoke Newington and Hornsey fire stations were at the scene. An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
LondonWaste Ltd confirmed that operations at the EcoPark had resumed by Sunday evening (March 27). The company added that there were no injuries or damage to buildings or equipment as a result of the fire.
A spokesman for the company said: “No other operations within the EcoPark were affected and services to the local boroughs and the waste authority continue as normal.”
EcoPark
The Edmonton EcoPark houses a 550,000 tonne-per-year capacity energy from waste plant which has been in operation since the early 1970s and is due to reach the end of its operational life in 2025.
The facility is used to treat household refuse on behalf of the North London Waste Authority (NLWA), a body which includes the London boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Haringey, Waltham Forest, Hackney, Enfield and Islington.
