In the South London accident the motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident which took place on Monday 8 June at 5.30pm in Streatham High Road. He has since been named as carpenter Mauricio Da Silva, age 27.

The driver of the Bio Collectors vehicle was not arrested. The vehicle was a four axle vehicle with a sheeter and was not carrying a container at the time of accident.

A spokeswoman for Bio Collectors, which describes itself as “the only company collecting London’s waste and recycling that waste in London,” said today that the company “is not in a position to discuss the incident while investigations are still underway”.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that enquiries by its Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are ongoing. In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said that “Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a motorcyclist in collision with a truck. The male motorcyclist suffered fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Bio Collectors uses innovative technology and an anaerobic digestion to process food waste and also exports biomethane for use in heating or cooking processes.
