Framework Directive “could incentivise composting over AD

The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has warned that the revised Waste Framework Directive could discourage the uptake of anaerobic digestion technology – because it is not clear as yet whether food turned into biogas will count towards the 50% household recycling target.

We have an open mind on the possibility of other changes to the national regulatory framework, such as bans or restrictions on the type of wastes which could be disposed of in landfill
