The company said the acquisition would enable it to provide more localised services to its customers across the south and east of England.

The acquisition brings the total number of sites run by EASCO to 13 across the Midlands, north and east England, with the company gaining a foothold in Essex, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.
Andre Serruys, EASCO group managing director, said: “The purchase of SB Wheeler is strategically an important acquisition for us. It enables us to expand our business further, increase operational efficiency across the south of the country and further improve the services we provide to our customers in that region.”
Mr Serruys said SB Wheeler had a “very strong financial base” and an “excellent workforce”, and that the business already works to international standards including ISO 14001 and ISO 9000.

EASCO, which has its headquarters at Lenwade, near Norwich, said it has more than doubled its turnover in the last three years with a year-on-year growth of 30% since 1995 – even before the acquisition of SB Wheeler. Formed in 1984, the company employs more than 200 people and exports more than half of its processed metals abroad, to the Far East, India and mainland Europe.
The company provides services for sectors including the automotive and rail industries as well as local authorities. It also provides consultancy services to help organisations to comply with legislation on end of life vehicles and waste electronics.
