The announcement came today as it released its three and nine month figures for the month ending September 30 2005.
The company said that in 2005, its landfill business has performed well, while waste to energy has continued its trend of year on year growth but is experiencing lower than expected gas collection on a number of sites.
For the third quarter specifically, landfill revenues were up 3% on the previous quarter. According to WRG this reflects a seasonality in waste arising from the building and demolition sector.
Municipal landfill revenue have declined by 5% on the second quarter, the company put this down to its local authority clients continuing to introduce recycling initiatives.
Profit
WRG announced that the total revenue for the group for the first nine months of 2005 was 406.4 million, including landfill tax of 149.1 million. Landfill operations accounted for 178.6 million -excluding landfill tax.
The combined waste-to-energy and energy-from-waste operations produced revenues of 44.3 million and ancillary businesses – including civic amenity site management, composting and recycling, waste treatment and quarrying – accounted for 34.4 million.
Operating profit for the company was 21.6 million and net cash inflow from operating activities was 88.3 million.
Successful
WRG announced that it has continued to be successful in renewing its shorter term municipal contracts as well as enhancing the value of some contracts through additional quantities and improved pricing.
The company also announced that progress continues to be made in the construction of the group's 500,000 tonne per annum energy-from-waste facility in Allington, Kent – with the project on course to come on line in 2006.
