Container production boost follows Taylor takeover

The new management team at waste container manufacturer Taylor has revealed that production capacity has increased at the company's Worcestershire home.

In June of this year Taylor was sold to private equity group ECI Partners, with a new management team brought in featuring former Environmental Services Association chairman Ross Ancell (see letsrecycle.com story).

” For local authorities and also contractors there are always times when product is required urgently.“
– Peter Selkirk, Taylor
After three months the new team has said it has increased the company's production capacity by almost 30%. The company claims it can now offer deliveries on certain specifications within 48 hours.

Taylor has put the increased capacity down to an increase and investment in the company workforce. This has led to flexibility in its production schedules in order to meet urgent customer requirements.

Previously, strictly controlled schedules meant that the company was unable to react quickly to urgent “off plan” requirements.

Luxury
Taylor chief executive Peter Selkirk said: “In any industry, for customers to be able to schedule for every eventuality is a luxury. For local authorities and also contractors there are always times when product is required urgently.

“In particular we have recently had several demands to supply our EventLid containers at short notice – typically where street events have been organized. To satisfy these demands we have to be able to deliver new 'liveried' containers very quickly,” he added.

Mr Selkirk also added that longer term measures are also being implemented at Taylor in order further increase the new team's impact on the company. At the start of September a 12-18 month development period – the first implementation of this will be the elimination of waste.
