Shred Station wins the Green Business of the Year Award!

The Norfolk Business Awards 2021, organised by Archant, took place on Thursday 25th November. These awards, held at the Norfolk Showground, were presented by ITV Anglia’s David Whiteley and also featured an inspiring keynote speech from Kanya King CBE. The awards highlighted industry leaders and celebrated Norfolk-based businesses that are outstanding in their sectors.

After reaching the finals in three categories, Shred Station won the highly esteemed Green Business of the Year award!

Green Business of the Year

A business that started in Norfolk in 2008, Shred Station is now the world’s largest independent shredding service provider. Something that sets Shred Station apart from other businesses, not only in the shredding industry but in all industries, is that they believe growth must be synonymous with sustainability.

Why did Shred Station win?

As well as achieving CarbonNeutral® certification in January 2019, the business demonstrates an ongoing commitment to reducing its operational carbon through innovative and sustainable practices. This includes investments into electrifying their already ultra-low emission fleet, using solar power at the company’s Norfolk head office, and an ongoing Shred a Tonne, Plant a Tree scheme for their customers.

When asked how it felt to win this award, Shred Station’s Managing Director and Founder, Simon Franklin, said:

“Brilliant!”

“We’ve worked so hard to be sustainable and carbon neutral”.

The company’s efforts seem to have paid off, earning them this year’s Green Business of the Year award. Shred Station also snagged a highly prestigious International Green Apple Environment Award earlier in the month. For Norfolk Businesses and businesses around the world, we can safely assume that green truly is the new black.
