Connected Containers…The UKCM Solution Powered by Tracker

Leading container repair and refurbishment specialist UK Container Maintenance (UKCM), has launched an innovative solution to container asset management and protection, powered by stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) and technology expert, Tracker.

The UKCM Solution Powered by Tracker

First to market this pioneering solution with Tracker, UKCM is addressing the increasing need to manage and protect containers and company assets from a security, compliance, health and safety, and financial perspective. The covert, battery powered tracking device, configured for an impressive two-year life span, is suitable for installation on any metal container, with UKCM providing both mobile and factory-based fitting.

The monitoring system can be set up depending on the value or use of the container, ensuring that the device and system is utilised effectively. The state-of-the-art solution boasts an adaptable reporting schedule. Location updates can be set to once daily, at specific times or each hour, dependent on the requirements of the company. Containers of a higher value and therefore at an increased risk of theft, for example, can benefit from a heightened frequency of location tracking.

The solution ensures that local authorities and waste management companies have a thorough understanding of the day-to-day operations of their assets, enabling container performance, routines and utilisation to be identified. In addition, safety alerts can be set up to monitor if an unsafe or defected container is moved without prior authorisation.

Emma Elston MBE, CEO of UKCM commented: “This highly innovative UKCM solution powered by Tracker enables us to move container management to the next level, providing waste management companies and local authorities with a fully comprehensive and cost-effective way to protect and manage their containers. At UKCM we are passionate about helping our customers to retain these valuable assets, reducing the need to invest in new and allowing for their use to be maximised.”

Mark Rose, Managing Director for Tracker added: “This is an exciting partnership for Tracker, and an initiative which supports our ambition to broaden the application of our connected solutions. Our fleet and insurance telematics propositions, combined with our market leading SVR capabilities, deliver powerful operational efficiencies to support day-to-day asset management whilst providing a superior level of protection in the event of theft. We are delighted to be working with UKCM as it reacts to its industry’s needs by bringing these benefits to its customers.”

Established in 1998, UKCM, the UK’s largest family-owned container repair and refurbishment company is dedicated to the refurbishment of all types of waste and recycling containers. UKCM works across the country offering waste companies and local authorities’ mobile repairs, as well as factory-based services at its head office located in Winsford, Cheshire.

The process brings old, and often unwanted, waste containers back to life instead of them going to scrap. The business model – refurbishment over replacement – is simple and for a third of the price of replacing a container, UKCM can restore the unit to full working order.
