The figures were released at a general meeting on May 4 when it was also confirmed that the name and structure of the parent organisation would be changed.
Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux will now be known as Suez and the company will have a board of directors and a chairman and chief executive officer. Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux previously had a supervisory board/executive board form of corporate governance.
Grard Mestrallet was appointed the first chairman of the board and chief executive officer and said that the first quarter of 2001 saw revenues exceeding EUR 10 billion, which is more than a 30 per cent increase compared to the first quarter of 2000.
The sustained revenue growth concerns all group businesses, which includes SITA and the other divisions: energy, water and communications. The structural changes mean that Jacques Ptry who is division head of SITA will report directly to Grard Mestrallet. Jacques Ptry will also sit on the management committee as executive vice-president in charge of waste services.
The company, which was set up in 1997, said that the changes will increase the group's effectiveness with shorter reporting lines and clearer lines of management as the chairman will have a direct relationship with the four operating divisions.
