According to the manufacturers, the screener has the largest hopper in its class, and can size material as low as 0.08mm. It is also designed to prevent blinding and pegging with rapidly expanding and contracting screening mats which keep the screening surface clean.

And, the B230s ox-horn design prevents wear between the screen mats and side plates of the machine. The hydraulic folding wing plates provide an enhanced rear feed loading target (3.8m) and the hopper has a capacity of just over 15 cubic yards.

Ronan Ghosh, managing director of RG Recycling, said: The B230 BIVITEC screen is the best mobile solution for high volume processing of difficult to screen, wet, stick materials. After trialling lots of other machines, we have found the efficiency and productivity of the B230 to be second to none.

JCB marks millionth machine milestone

Vehicle manufacturer JCB is celebrating the production of its one millionth machine, meaning that the Staffordshire based company has now produced enough diggers to stretch from the UK to Australia.

The milestone has been marked with a graphic wrap across the whole of the glass frontage at JCBs headquarters in Rocester, covering an area of more than 900sq m.

Meanwhile the company is also set to host its largest ever product conference, showcasing the latest machines in JCBs construction, agricultural and industrial ranges.

JCB chairman, Sir Anthony Bamford, said: Its taken JCB more than 67 years to produce its millionth machine. Incredibly, one third of those machines has been produced in the last six years. Reaching the million milestone is the result of a huge effort by the JCB team past and present and its an achievement everyone can be justifiably proud of. Given our continuing growth, JCBs two millionth machine will be produced in considerably less time.

Baler specialist to cater for RDF market

UK baler manufacturer Middleton Engineering has announced that it is turning its attention to the RDF market, and is developing tying solutions for operators handling multiple waste streams.

The company is highlighting various options including polyproylene twine, currently available on its HB60 range of channel balers, as well as plastic strapping solution designed as an upgrade for twin ram balers. These replace conventional wire tie systems providing an alternative which, according to Middletons, are more appropriate baled RDF waste.

It will also be featuring a new dual tying head designed to offer operators the flexibility of plastic strapping and wire ties on the same baler, enabling them to switch rapidly from one waste stream to another.

Nordic Recycling gets used fleet from RVS

Waste management firm Nordic Recycling has opted to replace its current waste collection hire fleet by purchasing its own vehicles from leading refuse vehicle re-manufacturing company Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd.

Nordic Recycling has purchased its new fleet through RVS

Based in Gloucestershire, RVS specialises in refurbishing used collection vehicles, replacing or repairing worn or defective parts to provide as new vehicles that are fully serviced and inspected, and cost less than new vehicles.

Sean Spoors, Nordics general manager, said: We have found hiring vehicles to be an unreliable solution so we took the decision to operate our own fleet. We looked at buying new vehicles but didnt want that level of capital expenditure, so we investigated the second hand market place and RVS were recommended to us time and again.

When we visited RVS we liked what we saw and compared to the other providers we spoke to, they were much more professional and responsive.

Shared fleet for Staffordshire councils

Northampton-based Specialist Fleet Services has begun supplying waste collection and street cleansing vehicles to High Peak and Staffordshire Moorlands councils, under a seven year contract with the local authorities.

The vehicle hire and fleet management company will be providing a total of 62 vehicles to the councils over the life of the contracts, including eight refuse collection vehicles with Mercedes chassis and Dennis bodies five standard and three twin packs.

High Peak borough council and Staffordshire Moorlands district council agreed to work jointly in 2008, forming a Strategic Alliance to secure efficiency savings, protect jobs, improve public services and provide the best value for money for taxpayers.

Joy Redfern, street scene manager (shared service) said: This is the first time that we have procured fleet across both authorities and it was a very smooth process. There were some high quality bids received yet SFS scored very highly beating off other tenders particularly in terms of quality standards and financial costs.

Serco upgrades fleet through Dennis Eagle

Dennis Eagle is set to provide 38 new vehicles to waste management firm Serco, after Serco was awarded a seven year environmental services contract by Chiltern and Wycombe district councils.

Sercos fleet to handle the contract will include a mix of 65/35 Olympus Twin Packs and Olympus Duos, fitted with the fuel saver pack.

Dennis Eagle has also recently supplied Serco with a further 17 65/35 split Olympus Twin Packs. The vehicles were delivered in April after Serco was re-selected to provide waste, recycling and street cleansing services to Canterbury City Council following a competitive tendering process.

Phil Quelch at Serco said: The vehicles will help us implement Wycombe and Chilterns new collection scheme, as well as reducing fuel consumption and CO emissions. This isnt the first time weve had the Fuel Saver Pack fitted – it has previously been specified on vehicles for Wandsworth and Sandwell so we know the potential savings it can deliver.
