The company, which operates UK-wide, said the opening of the new depot supports its strategic growth plans and will be ‘welcomed’ by clients around the Humber region.
Leon Kirk, managing director of Acumen, said: “Many of our service sectors are growing quite rapidly now and we are investing across our group activities to support this growth. Our investment in people and assets will ensure that we can continue to meet the increasing demand for our services”.
According to Acumen, its waste management experience is ‘broad ranging’, with roots in the hazardous solid and liquid waste market.
Industrial
Acumen’s Industrial Site Services business provides on-site solutions to facilitate industrial cleaning, decommissioning, shutdowns, on site waste treatment, contaminated land and associated works.
In addition to its head office in Knottingley and operational centres in Immingham and Stockton, Acumen owns and operates a waste transfer station and oil processing facility in Wolverhampton, and a solid waste recovery park near York.
The company’s 250,000 tonnes per year waste treatment facility at The Old Brick & Tile Works, York, handles waste including road sweeping and gully waste, contaminated soils and power station residues.
Following the recent acquisition of Highspeed Group Ltd earlier this year (see letsrecycle.com story), Acumen has also acquired the offices and permitted transfer station in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
Highspeed Group provides services for a range of industry sectors, which includes waste management services for workshop waste, waste oil, chemical packaging, aerosols and filters. Much of its waste operations are carried out through the company’s ‘Waste-Away’ brand which was launched in 2009.
Acumen was established in 1994 and offers services including industrial site services, asbestos disposal, soil remediation, waste oil collection and other waste management services.
