Based in Colorado, Arrow distributes IT and data storage equipment to firms across the globe.

The firm claims that the purchase of RDC will allow it to address the ‘growing requirements’ of its global clients.
Formed in 1991 as a computer auction business, sourcing and selling second hand computer equipment to be sold at auctions in southern England, RDC has grown into one of the largest IT remanufacturing firms in the UK. It was acquired in 1999 by Computacenter as the firm’s specialist IT recovery and remarketing division.
RDC carries out IT asset disposition including logistical management of collections, technical processing and secure data eradication or destruction and remarketing of the assets from its site near Braintree.
Agreement
As part of the transaction Arrow Electronics has entered into a five-year operating agreement with Computacenter for IT disposal services, which remain a part of Computacenter’s customer proposition.
Commenting on the deal, Michael J. Long, chief executive of Arrow, said: “This acquisition further broadens Arrow’s value recovery business in Europe. RDC will allow us to better address the growing requirements of our global customers.”
RDC was the first firm in the UK to successfully gain the PAS 141 WEEE reuse certification, after achieving certification from Really Green Credentials in November 2013.
The firm also received royal recognition at the 2012 Queens Awards for Enterprise following the growth of its sales of products and services overseas. In 2012 the company also launched Money4Computers.com which allows consumers and employees of RDC’s corporate customers to trade in their own WEEE for cash.
