Enva has announced plans to open a new fridge recycling facility at Goodman’s Crossways Commercial Park in Dartford, Kent.

The recycler has signed a pre-let agreement on a new 124,000 square foot unit, which is expected to become the largest fridge recycling facility of its type in the UK when it completes in late 2026.

Once operational, the site will enable up to 35,000 tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) to be processed annually, with a focus on end-of-life refrigeration units.

The Dartford facility has been designed to support the latest degassing, shredding and recycling technologies, benefitting from 2MVA of power alongside an additional 678kWp of rooftop solar photovoltaics (PV).

Enva said the investment will allow more than 98% of fridge components to be recovered for reuse or transformed off-site into new manufacturing materials.

Fridges require specialist treatment due to the sensitive and potentially hazardous nature of their components, particularly cooling elements and any integrated display screens.

The project was first announced by Enva in January 2025 and builds on recent fridge recycling facilities in Perth, Scotland and Toomebridge, Northern Ireland. These sites complement Enva’s existing fridge recycling operations in Grantham and Stourbridge in England.

Barry Phillips, managing director at Enva, said: “This new facility demonstrates a continued commitment to delivering our long-term growth strategy.

“By investing in the latest technology to safely and sustainably process end-of-life fridges, this facility will help us create significant environmental and commercial value for our customers and support a more resource-efficient and circular economy.”

Crossways Commercial Park

Enva will join Albion Fine Foods, a premium ingredients supplier, and Mission Produce, a global distributor of avocados, at Crossways Commercial Park.

Phase 2 of the development at the Park, which is now under construction, will deliver a total of 320,000 sq ft of industrial and logistics space across three units.

George Glennie, Development Director at Goodman, added: “Whether customers are looking to expand their operations or drive efficiencies in their supply chains, Crossways Commercial Park provides high-quality, flexible space that can meet their needs over the long term.”
