Eco Sustainable Solutions unveils £2.5m recycling wash plant

Dorset-based recycling company Eco Sustainable Solutions has unveiled a £2.5 million recycling wash plant at its site in Christchurch.

The plant, according to the company, will allow it to “process additional aggregate products” which are in the street sweepings it processes for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and Dorset councils.

Eco said the plant will help it recycle “even more of the waste it receives”.

Justin Dampney, managing director at Eco Sustainable Solutions said: “The plant will be a fantastic addition to the Eco Park, one which further reduces the carbon impact of our operations and adds to our ever-increasing portfolio of high quality, recycled products. The team have done a fantastic job of ensuring the facility has been safely installed against a challenging environment”.

Capacity

Eco Sustainable Solutions has the capacity to handle 250,000 tonnes of organic material, including garden waste, wood waste and food waste, from BCP and Dorset councils, as well as local and commercial customers.

Cllr Andy Hadley, portfolio holder for climate mitigation, environment and energy at BCP council said: “To have such a full-service recycling organisation on our doorstep is a massive benefit to businesses and locals alike. This wash plant is a great environmentally responsible addition to Eco’s services, turning waste materials into fresh resources, minimising haulage, and reducing aggregate extraction.

“The new wash plant comes with many benefits; it allows Eco to promote a circular economy by diverting waste from landfill and turning it into a usable product. The newly recycled aggregate has all the benefits of virgin material, without the need for quarrying.”
