The companies noted that since 2004, Indigo Waste has established an “extensive bottle bank placement and collection service across East Anglia”. This includes more than 1,500 bottle banks to service its customer base consisting of local authorities, other waste and recycling companies and commercial businesses across the region. Indigo Waste, which trades as Indigo Recycling is based in Barnham, Suffolk, a few miles south of Thetford. The deal was concluded on 4 January.
Countrystyle Recycling’s chairman, Trevor Heathcote, said: “The acquisition of Indigo Waste fits perfectly with our wider Group ambitions to expand into areas where we have an existing physical presence, in this case through our Envar Composting site at St Ives, Cambridgeshire, and customers that we already service regularly though our bulk haulage fleet”.

Gary Lee, director and shareholder of Indigo Waste, said: “The sale to Countrystyle is the culmination of 16 years of building our expertise in specialist bottle bank collections and onsale of glass bottles and jars for recycling into new glass containers. We are very happy that Countrystyle’s ethos and approach to customer service mirrors that of Indigo Waste and we are confident that our customers are in safe hands”.
Haulage
Chris Howard, Countrystyle Recycling’s managing director, added: “The Indigo Waste deal fits extremely well with Countrystyle’s current bulk haulage activities across the whole of the East of England and offers us an established specialist glass and paper collection and recycling operation to expand and also to roll out across our wider business base”.
