The deal includes Sackers’ transfer station in Ipswich, providing Biffa with a new base of operation in the region.
Biffa said that the acquisition will strengthen the company’s network across East Anglia, supporting local collections and helping to reduce vehicle mileage.
As part of the deal, the Sackers trade waste team will join Biffa, bringing with them extensive local knowledge to enhance Biffa’s waste management services in the area.
Commenting on the deal, Paul Coulton, Managing Director of Biffa’s Industrial and Commercial Division, said: “Sackers has built a strong reputation for service and reliability.
“The addition of their transfer station gives us more flexibility and capacity to grow in the region.
“We’re proud to welcome their team into Biffa.”
The acquisition does not include Sackers’ scrap metal business which will continue to operate independently.
Sackers was first established in 1929 and operates two large waste sites, a fleet of vehicles, and skips covering much of East Anglia.
It processes and treats numerous types of waste, including general waste (residual), mixed construction waste, wood waste, dry mixed recycling and hazardous waste.
The acquisition follows Biffa’s acquisition of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle manufacturer Esterform in October 2025, as part of a transaction to merge its PET recycling operations.
