New chairman appointed to Recycling Lives Services board

Rob Harris has joined Recycling Lives Services (RLS) as the new chairman for its board.

Harris has a long background in recycling, renewables and sustainability having previously worked in biofuels for BP.

He will guide and advise RLS’s Board as they “target substantial growth”.

Adrian Murphy, group CEO for RLS, said: “We’re thrilled to have welcomed Rob to our team – this is just the latest step in our growth ambitions for Recycling Lives Services.

“Rob’s background and skills are aligned with our commercial offering, thanks to his experience in sectors similar to ours and other growth environments. He also understands and shares our ethos of integrating sustainability and social value. We’re ready to learn from his experiences and leverage his insights, together.”

CIWM announces appointments to its Board of Trustees

The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) has made an appointment and several re-appointments to its Board of Trustees.

Richard Hulland will join the institution as a new trustee.

He is currently the chief risk and assurance officer, as well as a board member, for Veolia Northern Europe Executive Committee (ExCo).

He will have a three-period term on the board which will run until the Presidential Inauguration 2028.

CIWM has also confirmed the re-appointment of Trevor Nicoll as a trustee who will also be on the board until 2028.

Finally, John Kutner has been re-appointed as honorary treasurer.

Sarah Poulter, CEO at CIWM, said: “Our Board of Trustees are fundamental to the effective running of CIWM, and we are delighted to welcome Richard and welcome back Trevor and John for a further term.

“Their collective expertise and commitment will be highly valuable in helping us to ensure robust governance and deliver our purpose to move the world beyond waste.”


Hills Waste Solutions promotes Caroline Wilde to senior position

Hills Waste Solutions has promoted Caroline Wilde to join its senior leadership team as divisional director for commercial and industrial.

Wilde will start her new role on 1 August 2025, having first joined the Swindon-based waste company in December 2019 as a business project manager.

She said: “I’m incredibly proud to take on the role of divisional director.

“Having spent 25 years in the waste sector, I’ve seen first-hand how vital this industry is to communities, businesses, and the environment.

“Hills has been a huge part of my journey, and I’m grateful for the trust placed in me to lead this next chapter.

“Our customers remain at the heart of everything we do, and I’m excited to work with the fantastic team to drive smart, sustainable growth – building on our strengths and unlocking new opportunities for the future.”


Everflow hires new director amidst waste expansion

Suzanne Mitchison has been made the director of waste services at Everflow.

Everflow is a UK-based multi-service provider for businesses, including the supply of water, commercial waste and telecoms services.

Mitchison joins from Biffa where she worked as a commercial manager in the northeast.

She will now lead the strategic development and scaling of Everflow’s waste collection and recycling network across the UK.

Craig Dallison, CEO of Everflow, said: “Everflow’s refuse division has scaled at a remarkable rate to offer services nationally, while simultaneously diversifying our waste solutions to meet the needs of businesses both large and small.”

“Last year we reached a new milestone, with the division turning a profit just two years after launching.

“Suzanne’s proven leadership and passion for customer excellence makes her the ideal candidate to lead our waste division into its next phase of growth while upholding the customer-centric approach we are known for.”
