Shanks appoints BDR community officer
Shanks has appointed Abi Cox as its new community education liaison officer for the Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham waste facility, due to open in July 2015.

Based in the purpose built visitor centre, off Bolton Road, Ms Cox will spread the word about why waste matters and will encourage visitors to reduce waste, compost reuse and recycle.
Joining the BDR Manvers facility from a similar community facing role in Derby, Ms Cox said: “I don’t have a typical day because my job is so varied, but the common theme is helping people to understand how they can make a difference.
“The more informed people are about their waste and the processes behind treating it, the more they are able to sustainably manage that waste.”
Ms Cox will be helping young people to understand what Shanks and its engineers do at the new Manvers facility, to make the most from their waste.
She said: “I try to inspire young people by talking about the technical processes and what we do with the rubbish in their bin bags. Sometimes when I go back to schools the children run up to me in the playground, so I must be doing something right.
“People are often amazed at the lengths we go to at Shanks to make sure waste is used in a valuable way to create energy and other important by-products.”
Former Komptech UK managing director joins CGCS
CGCS (Midlands) Ltd, the newly appointed UK importer for the new Pronar range of mobile trommel screens, has appointed Paul Carley to develop and establish the brand and products in the UK.
Mr Carley was formerly the managing director of Komptech UK Ltd and the agreement will utilise Mr Carley’s 20 plus years sales and technical experience in the organic and recycling sector with similar products, according to the firm. Pronar is one of the biggest producers of agricultural and municipal machines in Poland and is currently developing and expanding its environmental waste management range of products which include the MPB18.47 and MPB20.55 mobile trommel screeners.
Paul Carley commented: “From my previous experience I fully appreciate that today’s customers demand a good support structure and product reliability from manufacturers and distributors and I am very excited to be involved in this new project with PRONAR and C.G.C.S (Midlands) Ltd.”
“These trommel screens will be ideal for screening a variety of materials from compost, bark and waste wood to light aggregates, soils and other waste materials.”
