Energy from waste (EfW) operator Enfinium has signed a 10-year fuel supply agreement with A1 Recycling and Renewables NW to supply its facilities in West Yorkshire.

The agreement will see A1 Recycling and Renewables supply waste from its materials recovery facility (MRF) in Greater Manchester to two EfW plants – Ferrybridge and Skelton Grange.

The agreement is set to commence in October 2026.

Wayne Robertson, Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer at Enfinium, commented: “We are pleased to begin this new partnership with A1 Recycling and Renewables.

“This long-term agreement will provide a reliable outlet for unrecyclable waste from Greater Manchester while supporting the continued generation of homegrown energy at our facilities in West Yorkshire.

“We look forward to building on the agreement and exploring further opportunities to work together in the future.”

Enfinium said the deal would strengthen its long-term fuel supply arrangements, supporting the management of waste and the generation of energy at its West Yorkshire facilities.

Simon Ince, Managing Director of A1 Recycling and Renewables NW, added: “We are delighted to have secured this long-term agreement with Enfinium, building on our already established working relationship.

“Having reliable and established energy from waste partners is essential to our operations, and this agreement provides us with the confidence to continue developing our business and supporting our customers.

“We look forward to strengthening our partnership with enfinium over the coming years.”

The deal follows a recent fuel supply agreement between Enfinium and Remondis UK to supply waste to its Ferrybridge 1 and 2 and Skelton Grange facilities.

The company also has agreed a 25-year deal with SSE that will see heat from its Skelton Grange Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Leeds used in the Aire Valley Heat Network.

Under the long-term arrangement, Enfinium, who will be the anchor source for the network, will initially provide 6MWth of bulk heat to the network, with supply expected to begin from the first quarter of 2027.
