PackUK has confirmed a deadline of 1 September 2026 for producers to resubmit 2025 packaging data before producer fees and Notices of Liability are finalised.

The deadline, introduced on behalf of the four UK nations, applies to producers that pay Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR) disposal fees.

It gives businesses a five-month window following the 1 April 2026 reporting deadline to review their submissions and make any necessary corrections.

PackUK said introducing a fixed resubmission deadline will enable confirmed Year 2 producer fees and Notices of Liability to be published later this calendar year, without further recalculations or changes being expected.

The move follows earlier commitments by PackUK to improve data stability and reduce in-year fee variability, helping producers plan with greater confidence while also providing greater certainty for local authorities receiving pEPR payments.

What the deadline means

Following the 1 September deadline, regulators will continue compliance monitoring before PackUK uses the final dataset to calculate confirmed disposal fees for 2026/27 and issue producers with their Notices of Liability.

While PackUK published illustrative Year 2 disposal fees in December 2025, these remain subject to change based on corrected producer data received before the deadline.

The organisation does not intend to publish any further illustrative fees before confirmed figures are released later this year.

Any packaging data resubmitted after 1 September will continue to be reviewed by regulators as part of compliance activity but will not affect a producer’s Notice of Liability or disposal fees for Year 2.

As in the first year of the scheme, producers will have 50 calendar days to pay their fees once Notices of Liability have been issued, with the option of paying in instalments.

What producers need to do

PackUK said producers should review their 2025 packaging data as soon as possible and submit any corrections before 1 September 2026.

Businesses that report through a compliance scheme are advised to contact their scheme to confirm what information they need to provide and the deadlines for doing so.

PackUK said the 1 September deadline is the key opportunity for producers to ensure their reported packaging data is accurate before confirmed Year 2 fees and Notices of Liability are calculated.

After that date, any further data corrections will not change the disposal fees a producer is required to pay.
