Northamptonshire Partnership Homes (NPH) has extended its long-running fleet partnership with Specialist Fleet Services under a new four-year contract.

The agreement, which began on 1 March 2026, will see SFS continue to provide replacement and maintenance services for NPH’s 70-vehicle fleet, taking the relationship through to 2031.

NPH, an arms-length management organisation (ALMO), manages around 11,500 homes on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council and employs approximately 300 staff.

The latest deal marks more than 27 years of partnership between the two organisations, with SFS having first worked with NPH and its predecessor, Northampton Borough Council, in 2004.

Lee Burdett, Operations Manager at NPH, said: “SFS understand our business requirements and our delivery model, and that stood out in their submission.

“Unlike other providers they have complete awareness of the importance of carrying out all servicing and maintenance out of hours. This means we can minimise vehicle downtime, plan our trade resources in advance and maximise our productivity, therefore providing a better service to our tenants.

New waste fleet to be introduced

As part of the renewed contract, NPH will introduce a new fleet of 68 Ford Motor Company vehicles, including Custom, Connect and Transit vans, alongside two DAF Trucks 7.5-tonne caged tippers.

The vehicles will support NPH teams carrying out estate services, property repairs and external works across its housing portfolio.

SFS said the vans are being fitted with bespoke racking systems following consultation with trade operatives, alongside tool points and storage pods designed to improve vehicle interchangeability and boost first-time fix rates.

The fleet refresh also includes a move towards lower-emission vehicles, with the new Custom and Connect vans switching from diesel to petrol hybrid models as part of NPH’s sustainability strategy.

Bob Sweetland, Managing Director at SFS, added: “We work hard to retain our customers and take time to understand how each individual organisation operates.

“Our aim is to continually improve how we do things; to work with our customers in addressing challenges and finding solutions.

“We are thoroughly delighted that NPH is happy with our services and we look forward to continuing the partnership for many years to come.”

All new vehicles will also feature automatic transmissions, a move intended to help reduce long-term repair and maintenance costs.
