More than £1 billion of local authority contracts were secured or extended by Veolia UK in 2025.

The company said this underlines the “good dynamics of our strongholds”, referring to its core municipal water and waste services.

This comes against a backdrop of steady global performance, with Veolia Group reporting full-year 2025 revenue of £38.7 billion (€44.4 billion), up 1.4% on 2024.

UK growth driven by local authority contracts

Between 2020 and 2025, Veolia UK’s municipal services division grew by 35%, as the business added new customers and expanded service offerings. The company now partners with more than 50 local authorities nationwide.

Growth in 2025 was driven by 11 new or extended contracts, including:

  • A long-term integrated waste management contract with the London Borough of Bromley
  • Collection and street cleansing services delivered on behalf of Sutton Council, Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, London Borough of Croydon, London Borough of Merton, and East and North Hertfordshire Councils

CEO of Veolia Group Estelle Brachlianoff commented: “Developing our strong partnerships with municipal authorities across the country, we are helping local authorities to decarbonise their services, adapt to generational legislative change and regenerate more of their resources.

“We are proud to be the partner of choice for our local authority clients by supporting them in all aspects of their essential services.”

£1bn investment in infrastructure

Alongside contract wins, Veolia highlighted continued infrastructure investment.

The group has invested £1 billion in UK recycling and waste infrastructure over the past ten years, including a forthcoming plastics reprocessing facility in Shropshire.

Veolia is also developing electrification services linked to its local authority contracts, including a world-first vehicle-to-grid (V2G) project delivered with Westminster City Council.

In addition to infrastructure and decarbonisation projects, the company said it generated more than £25 million of social value in 2025, supporting employment, skills and community initiatives linked to its municipal operations.

Veolia global finances up 1.4%

Veolia Group has reported full-year 2025 revenue of £38.7 billion (€44.4 billion).

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased from £5.9 billion (€6.8 billion) in 2024 to £6.1 billion (€7.05 billion) in 2025, representing 6.3% growth.

Brachlianoff added: “2025 has truly been a pivotal year, as we’ve successfully closed the chapter of Suez integration and we’ve performed a major strategic refocusing of the group portfolio towards accelerated growth and international positioning.”

Lower energy prices weighed on headline growth, particularly in Europe, but underlying activity remained resilient across water, waste and energy services.
