A CCTV operator in the area was alerted to two people wandering the Efford Waste Recycling Centre at approximately 10.25pm on Sunday 11 August 2024, having gained accessed via a rear fence.
Allegedly, one man was seen to climb into an open top container labelled ‘iron and steel’ and begin passing items to the other man, who was then said to put the items into several duffle bags.
The duo then fled the area on foot via a fence next to the main gate.
Extensive area searches
Officers were later deployed to the scene and carried out a number of extensive area searches, locating two men matching the descriptions, provided by the CCTV operator, at the junction of Milford Road and the entrance to the waste site.
They were both detained for the purposes of a search and were subsequently arrested.
Both New Milton-based men were arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal. They remain in custody.
This is surprising!
We are still awaiting Essex Police to make contact/ turn up to our metal theft which took place 5 weeks ago… I don’t know how much longer I can keep sitting on the thieving weasels.
