Packaging expert Wilson joins Valpak
Retail packaging expert Lorraine Wilson has joined Valpak, the UK’s largest compliance scheme.
Valpak, which is owned by Reconomy Group, said that Ms Wilson “brings a practical knowledge of retail systems and packaging materials that will enhance Valpak’s tools to help businesses implement data-driven packaging choices”.
Ms Wilson said: “In my new role, I will add in-depth knowledge of retail systems, material properties, and the performance demands placed on packaging.”
With 33 years’ experience in retail packaging, Ms Wilson began her career as a packaging designer at Belmont Packaging Ltd, before taking on roles as a packaging technologist and then global packaging lead at N Brown PLC. More recently, she crossed over to Corporate social responsibility manager at Studio Retail Ltd.
Head of consulting at Valpak, James Skidmore, said: “I am delighted to welcome Lorraine to the team. Recolight appoints Novell as operations manager
Recolight, the specialist WEEE compliance scheme for the lighting industry, has announced the promotion of Cindi Novell to the role of operations and compliance manager.
Ms Novell has more than eight years’ experience working closely with former operations manager, Amel Gharbi, whom she replaces.
Commenting on her appointment, Cindi said it was an exciting to take on the Recolight position “as we drive to Net Zero and a more sustainable, circular, and efficient service.”
Announcing the news, Recolight Chief Executive, Nigel Harvey said: “With Cindi’s wealth of experience working in the Operations Team, she was a natural choice for promotion. Cindi will play an integral role in further enhancing the efficiency and value of our WEEE collection service.”
Recolight is the main UK WEEE compliance scheme for the lighting industry, taking on responsibility for its members’ WEEE compliance, and giving customers access to what it says is the UK’s most comprehensive free lamp collection and recycling service, helping to ensure that as many lamps as possible are kept out of landfill.
Podback chooses Singleton to link with councils
Coffee pod recycling organisation Podback has appointed Simone Singleton as its partnerships mobilisation manager.
In her post Ms Singleton will work with local authority partners adding coffee pods to their collection services. She joins Podback from Swindon borough council and has worked in local authority waste management for 15 years, leading on strategy, projects and income generating services with a focus on communications and service improvement.
“Well, one month into my new role with Podback, and I have to say I have been bowled over by the ambition, interest and opportunity surrounding the humble coffee pod,” she said.
Ms Singleton added: “Podback’s mission is to ensure that every coffee pod enjoyed is recycled. Kerbside collection schemes are the priority, and I am delighted to be part of a solution that strives to support local authorities, both financially and operationally; making it easier to introduce new services to residents in such challenging times.”
Emery becomes non-exec at Enfinium
The Enfinium energy from waste business has announced the appointment Peter Emery as a non-executive director.
Mr Emery is chair of Greater Manchester’s Energy Innovation Agency and the energy appointee to the Board of Innovation Greater Manchester, part of the Government’s Innovation Accelerator Policy. He has held senior management and board positions at Drax Group plc, Electricity North West Limited and Capture Power.
And, Mr Emery was recently a non-executive director at N G Bailey and is Deputy Chair of the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
