Taking place on 14-15 September at the NEC, Birmingham, the exhibition will feature sessions on the impact of the Resources and Waste Strategy and other reforms either under implementation, or proposed. The event will also aim to shed some light on the complexities of implementing upcoming legislation and give attendees the opportunity to rub shoulders with industry decision makers and those involved in the shaping of policy.

Legislation
The first day will see a discussion on the impact of the Resources and Waste Strategy, taking place at 13.15 in the Keynote Theatre. Speakers include Lee Marshall, policy and external affairs director at CIWM, Chris Mills, collections and recycling special advisor at WRAP, Defra’s deputy director of waste, Chris Preston and Paul Van Danzig, policy director at the Wastepack Group.
On the same day, Lee Dobinson and Pamela Woolcock from BioTeCH4 will discuss food waste collections in the Local Authority Theatre between 13.30 and 14.00.
On 15 September, the second day of the show, the outcomes of EPR will be unpacked during a panel debate in the Packaging Theatre, with Valpak, Tesco and INCPEN representatives speaking to name a few.
On the other hand, the Local Authority Theatre will host a talk titled Decarbonising the fleet: a green and efficient sustainable future.
DRS
Ahead of similar legislation set to come into force in the UK, the Slovak Minister of Environment, Jan Budaj, will be attending the show to give a talk on the successful implementation of the scheme in Slovakia.
Flexible films, which are to be included in the government’s proposals for consistent kerbside collection, will also be discussed in a session led by Suez and Eurokey.
The second day of the event will see the Local Authority Theatre host talks on understanding waste with compositional analysis, circular economy and repair.
Networking
Local authority representatives and their service providers can meet and mingle in a designated area of the show, titled the Local Authority Lounge. The lounge includes a dedicated seminar theatre with informative dedicated content and community-based solutions.
