The charge follows the death of an 80-year old man in Sherrifmuir in December.

SherrifmuirMapThe collision on December 3 2014 caused the death of 80-year-old Peter Wills on the same day.

The un-named 42-year-old driver will appear in court later this year, following an investigation by Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit.

In a statement, Police Scotland said: “A 42-year-old man has been charged with causing death by careless and inconsiderate driving following a fatal road traffic collision involving a refuse vehicle in the Sheriffmuir area of Stirling last year.

“This incident resulted in the death of 80-year-old local man Peter Wills.

“Extensive enquiries were conducted by the Stirling Road Policing Unit to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision, which occurred on 3rd December 2014.

“The man will appear in court at a later date.”

A Stirling council spokesperson added: “The individual who has been charged is no longer an employee of Stirling Council and we will work to cooperate with the police in any way possible.”
