The man was formally identified by officers as 47-year-old Marek Cuprys, who was originally from Poland and had no fixed address.

Police also confirmed a post-mortem examination carried out at Fulham Mortuary had revealed Mr Cuprys had died from “crush injuries”. However, the death is still being treated as unexplained.

Mr Cuprys’ body was discovered inside a metal refuse container by employees at West London Waste Authority’s depot on Transport Avenue last week (see letsrecycle.com story).

The Brentford waste transfer station is run by SITA UK on behalf of the Authority under a 25-year contract signed in 2013.

It is understood that workers at the depot made the discovery while trying to close the refuse container on its way out of the depot.

A spokesperson for SITA UK told letsrecycle.com today that operations at the site were now ‘back to normal’. Police officers from Hounslow are still investigating the incident.
