AfOR announces 15 finalists for annual awards

The Association for Organics Recycling (AfOR) has revealed finalists for its annual Awards which are set to take place at the Hilton Metropole, in Birmingham, on February 11.

The awards ceremony, which is taking place after the organisation's annual conference, will see up to three companies in each category honoured as winner, highly commended or commended.

Founding WRAP director and waste and recycling expert, Ray Georgeson, is set to host the Awards.

Jeremy Jacobs, managing director at AfOR, commented: “It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce the shortlist for the AfOR awards, this year the quality and number of entries exceeded all expectations and this made judging that much more challenging.”

Finalists for the Jim Ballance Composting Award – which focuses on firms which have significant achievements in the field of marketing compost as a product include:

• Viridor for its Revive Compost range
• FRN Resource Management
• Keenan Recycling

The Local Authority Partnership Award, meanwhile, recognises the important relationships between council and organics recycling companies. Companies short-listed in this category are:

• J & F Powner Ltd & Hinckley & Botsworth borough council
• BiogenGreenfinch and
