The purchases took place as the County Mulch business was placed into administration this morning: parent company Greenview Environmental could not be contacted on August 4.
Update: August 5 -Stephen Hall, director of Covered Systems Ltd, which is one of the two Greenview Environmental trading businesses, confirmed that “County Mulch was sold under a prepack yesterday morning”. Asked about the position of Covered Systems and Greenview Environmental, he said: “It is a very confusing picture at the moment.”
The administration sale will see Material Change taking over County Mulchs operation at Corby while Countrystyle will control operations in Suffolk at Stanton and Lackford and in Bedfordshire at Tempsford. Meanwhile, County’s Mulch’s site at Creeting will be jointly operated by Countrystyle and Material Change. The Creeting site operates open windrow composting and bark processing, while the remaining four facilities operate In-Vessel Composting (IVC) systems.
Details of creditors are expected to emerge soon.
The acquisition increases the number of Countrystyles composting sites across the South and East of England to nine. The new sites expand the groups operational footprint and add a combined capacity of over 115,000 tonnes per annum of food and green waste to Countrystyles existing capacity. The purchase will see Material Changes operating sites increase to seven in the Midlands region, with the new sites adding 60,000 tonnes to its annual output capacity and food waste processing at Corby.
Tremendous
Ed Bastow, managing director of Material Change and Mat Stewart, managing director of Countrystyle Group issued a joint statement: The purchase of these operating sites is a tremendous step forward for both companies. The development of food waste processing and anaerobic digestion plants is a strategic aim for both parties and these new sites allow us to offer well placed facilities to deliver various green and food waste mix options to local authorities and businesses in the region.
“The acquisition delivers a significant boost to each companys operational capabilities in the region and is good news for both companies and customers alike.
Complementary
Ian Corfield of KPMG, acting as joint administrator, said: “The joint purchase of the business and assets by Material Change and Countrystyle is a complementary operational fit and ensures that all County Mulch employee jobs are transferred and the business can continue and develop going forwards.”
