It is widely expected that Mr Sills will leave by “mutual consent”. His departure comes after controversy at the end of last year when Entrust were required to apologise to the Environment Select Committee over allegations that Entrust had acted wrongly in the way it approached a witness giving evidence to a sub committee of the committee.
For the past few months Mr Sills has not been at his Entrust office, and the organisation has drawn a veil of secrecy over his future and over heated discussions at board meetings. It is thought that there has been considerable discussion within the Entrust board about the future strategy for the organisation which has Lord Cranbrook as its chairman and is a private company acting as regulator for HM Customs and Excise.
