Awards for Excellence 2010 finalists announced

The finalists for this year's Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management have been announced today (April 6), ahead of next month's prestigious awards ceremony.

A record number of entries were received for the seventh annual awards, which span both the commercial and local authority sectors with several unique categories, including recognition of collection crews and innovation in design of waste management facilities.

Winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony, which will this year be held at the Landmark Hotel in central London on Wednesday May 5.

Among the finalists for the awards, which are organised by letsrecycle.com, are collection crews from East Northamptonshire, Hackney and Southwark, while the coveted title of local authority recycling champion will be contested by council officers from Castle Point in Essex, Haringey in North London and Hackney in East London.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by Huw Edwards, well known for his work as a journalist and broadcaster of the Ten O'Clock News.
