Cory submits Gloucestershire recovery park application

Cory Environmental announced today that it has submitted an application for planning permission for a “Resource Recovery Park” to Gloucestershire county council.

The facility has been proposed for Wingmoor and forms an integral part of Cory's tender submission for the long-term management of the county's waste. If permitted, the facility will be developed on land identified by the Gloucestershire Waste Local plan as having potential as a strategic site for waste management activity.

” The submission of this planning application demonstrates Cory's commitment to developing truly integrated solutions to managing waste “
– Adrian Judge, Cory

The development proposals involve the initial construction of mechanical biological treatment and anaerobic digestion plants with the capacity to process 160,000 tonnes of waste each year.

The MBT plant has been designed to allow for future modification, if markets develop, into a facility producing a high quality solid recovered fuel.

Commitment

Commenting on the proposals, Cory's general manager, Adrian Judge, said: “The submission of this planning application demonstrates Cory's commitment to developing truly integrated solutions to managing waste.

“The park is a key component of Cory's proposals to help Gloucestershire meet its challenging targets to increase recycling and reduce the amount of waste being sent to landfill,” he added.

An Environmental Impact Assessment accompanied the planning application. As well as looking at traffic, noise, ecology, and visual impact the assessment addressed comments received from the local community and other stakeholders during the consultation period.
