The team which established and operate waste management firm Pure Recycling has set-up as Mission Recycling and outlined an intention to target the energy-from-waste market following the sale of its Warwick business to Kier Group.
However, the remaining parts of the business not purchased by Kier have now been rebranded Mission Recycling Ltd by the firm's managing director, Nik Spencer.
The newly-established Mission Recycling retains two recycling sites – its licensed waste site at Evesham and its recycling operations in Swindon. It was believed that the Evesham facility had been part of the Kier deal; however, this is not the case.
Delivery of the Warwick site, which is the flagship plant under Pure's MRF operations, had been delayed by the onset of the economic downturn although work began again on the plant earlier this year (see letsrecycle.com story).
Energy
Mission intends to operate in the recycling sector as a separate entity; it has also identified an intention to develop a presence in the energy market.
Mr Spencer said: “If you ask anyone where the waste industry is heading, the answer is energy. We are investigating and investing in alternative technologies and have put together a broad project team to deliver our first energy from waste plant by 2014.”
In addition to retaining core staff, such as Matthew Gibbon and Rebecca Taylor, Mission has also brought in new personnel. Geraldine Carberry, previously with paper recycling firm Sterling Fibre and Justin Powell, who has 18 years of experience with Severnside Recycling, have both joined in the last few months.
