Rachael Heaps, managing director for Centrol, said: “Centrol Recycling Group now offers one of the largest ranges of recycling and waste management services in the UK. With government legislation changing all the time as regards data destruction, packaging and electrical equipment, coupled with rising landfill tax costs, all companies need to be aware of their legal obligations regarding disposing of their waste.”

Axis Waste Services which will now move its operations to Centrol's Widnes site. Axis specialises in hazardous and special waste transport and disposal including chemicals, toxic material, solvents and drugs.

Liverpool-based Security Shredding Services (SSS) operates mobile destruction units which destroy a company's information systems on-site, including paper, digital media, microfiche, audio and visual cassettes.

Ms Heaps said: “Here at Centrol, we offer recycling services, consultancy advice and total waste management to a variety of businesses ranging from small office concerns to large blue chip corporates.”

Centrol runs 53 vehicles and employs 70 staff and all the staff from SSS and Axis will be transferred to the waste management company. Centrol also plans to eventually move SSS to Widnes, making it a centre for all three companies but for now the data destruction company is retaining its own site.
