The Sevenoaks-based company, which works with local community group Menter Mon, local authority waste company Cwmni Gwastraff Mon Arfon Cyf and the county council, is launching a new Strategy Recycling Scheme (SRS).
Expected to be fully operational in June, the project will see nine different schemes operating on Anglesey, including a weekly kerbside collection of twin recycling boxes for 10,000 households.
The project will also launch a new service for collecting green garden waste for recycling into compost. Verdant is already in the process of delivering 6,000 wheeled bins for collections due to start at the end of this month.
Funding
The SRS project has been supported by nearly 2 million of EU funding through the Objective One fund administered by the Welsh Assembly.
It follows on from the two-year “Cleanstream” project launched by Verdant a year ago for households in Holyhead and the North of Anglesey, which has already helped the island reach a 20% recycling rate.
Roger Edwards, Verdant's development director, said: “When Cleanstream was launched a year ago, we all believed the partnership could achieve something significant for Anglesey. It clearly has, and our collective experience will now be focused on the new SRS scheme, which will enable Angelsey to achieve even greater recycling success.”

In yet another local link, the SRS project has ordered new collection vehicles from the locally-based suppliers FAUN. A new three-and-a-half tonne vehicle and three new 12-tonne vehicles will more than double the size of the partnership's fleet.
