The Bristol-based company will work across Ashton Gate Stadium, as well as the Robins and Bears performance centres, with a focus on improving waste handling, regulatory compliance and recycling performance.
Stephen Hill, General Manager of Group Commercial Development at Grundon, said: “We are delighted to be appointed as the new waste management partner for Ashton Gate Stadium and the Bristol Sport Group.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with the team to support their ongoing commitment to sustainability and greener operations.”
Project Whitebeam
The appointment follows a tender process and supports Bristol Sport Group’s sustainability ambitions under Project Whitebeam – a joint initiative across the sporting group designed to recognise, measure and mitigate its environmental impact.
The project is named after seven rare and endangered species of Whitebeam found only in the Avon Gorge and Leigh Woods.
Bristol Sport Group Facilities Manager Max Wilshaw added: “We are delighted that, after a thorough tender process, Grundon are our new waste management partner.
“Grundon is a highly-respected local company with a near century of experience.
“They will provide a high level of waste management service across the sporting group’s sites, as well as supporting our sustainability goals to reduce our environmental impact through Project Whitebeam.”
Grundon’s facilities in Bristol
Grundon is one of the UK’s largest family-owned supplier of integrated waste management and environmental services, working with around 15,000 clients nationwide.
Its portfolio includes a number of high-profile sports and leisure venues such as Silverstone Race Circuit, Ascot Racecourse and Twickenham Stadium, alongside regional organisations including Gloucestershire Cricket and Forest Green Rovers.
The waste management company began construction on its new waste transfer station in Bristol in December 2025.
Located on an industrial estate on the southern edge of central Bristol, the facility will form a new addition to the company’s existing premises, which it has occupied since 2019.
Once operational, the facility will aim to be capable of handling up to 50,000 tonnes per year of commercial and industrial waste, collected from local businesses and customers and bulked on site before onward transport for treatment or recycling.
