Plastics reprocessor MBA Polymers UK has today (30 April) announced the acquisition of Dover-based automotive plastics recycler, PPR Wipag.
Formed in 1995, PPR Wipag specialises in the processing of post-industrial plastics from the automotive industry. This includes multi-layered parts such as car bumpers and dashboards which it converts into closed loop resins.
MBA Polymers UK is a specialist in the processing of post-consumer plastics from Automotive Shredder Residue (ASR) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
The company, which is a part of the EMR Group, has a site at Worksop in Nottinghamshire. Outputs are compounded at the facility into high quality virgin replacement polymer grades.
MBA Polymers says that the acquisition is part of its long-term growth strategy to increase its product portfolio and provide a “complete closed loop offering”.
As part of the acquisition PPR Wipag will become MBA’s post-industrial arm and the company will explore the recycling of new products.
Paul Mayhew, general manager, MBA Polymers UK, said “We are incredibly excited to have acquired PPR Wipag. The acquisition allows us to provide closed loop solutions to existing customers whilst also increasing our product portfolio of high-quality recycled polymer.
“As a member of the EMR Group, MBA will be able to leverage the existing group infrastructure and provide a total plastic waste management solution to the automotive and injection moulding sectors.
