Do you have a proven record of providing leadership and strategic direction within Domestic and Commercial Waste Services?

The Waste Service at Thurrock is part of Directorate that is working to lay a solid strategic foundation that will enable us to meet the needs of communities and residents in a rapidly changing context. With a review of the Waste Strategy underway and the need to embed ideals driven from central government, Thurrock provides a unique environment for a Strategic Leader to make a real difference in shaping service delivery.

The Waste service includes an in-house collection service with a range of disposal contracts, a commercial arm and a Household Waste and Recycling Centre that is due to be re-developed.

You will be accountable for the policies, procedures and strategies covering Waste Management through times of change and as the borough grows.

Controlling the revenue and capital budgets you will ensure the service is able to operate within Council budgetary procedures; preparing annual budgets and capital funding bids as appropriate for the ongoing development and sustainability of the service.

Ideally you will be a full Member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management with significant experience covering both collection services and disposal.

You will join a committed and supportive team in an ambitious and forward-thinking authority. Thurrock is transforming; as the largest regeneration area in the country there is huge growth, development and investment happening across the borough.

So, if you want to work in an energised and innovative environment as part of our ambitious #TeamThurrock, we would love to hear from you.
