We are looking for a Senior Waste Officer to join our Waste Services Team. Are you passionate about delivering high quality waste services that help the council and its residents protect the environment and divert as much waste from landfill as possible?

About the role
Based in County Hall the Senior Waste Officer will undertake key contract management activities, including the interpretation and assessment of complex data to inform detailed monthly appraisals of contract performance, environmental compliance, budget monitoring and forecasting activities.
Providing continuing senior technical support to ensure the robust management of several new and existing multi-million pound service contracts for the collection and management of waste and recycling, and closely support the management of two landfill diversion contracts that, alongside our recycling services, helped Wiltshire Council divert over 84% of the waste it managed in 2018/19 from landfill.
You will ideally have a degree in economics, statistics, applied mathematics or a degree in an environmental discipline and able to demonstrate excellent ICT skills, with a particular focus on the interpretation of complex data sets and financial information.
A knowledge of relevant recycling and waste policies and legislation to include the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Controlled Waste Regulations 2012, national waste policy framework, and the Waste Framework Directive would be required, alongside practical experience of managing service enquiries from a wide range of stakeholders.
