European Polymers are the market leading company specialising in the recycling of all polymer grades. We are growing rapidly and due to legislative changes, and the need for continuous improvements in material quality we feel now is the time to employ our own quality inspectors. Inspections will be carried out at our suppliers sites, and will vary between pre-loading checks, live loadings and scheduled audits.

This new role will be based out of our Nottingham City office but will require extensive travelling throughout the UK.

While experience within the recycling industry would be advantageous, it is not essential as full training can be given. It is likely that you will be required in the office one day a week.

Main Duties:

  • Carry out inspections at our customer sites across the UK
  • Check material quality prior to loadings and attend  loading when necessary
  • Split bales of material open to check the quality and ensure bales are ok for export
  • Check for contamination (dirt, paper, wood, hazards, other restricted materials – such as food)
  • Any material that does not meet our minimum quality standard must be rejected
  • Ensure that trailer/container space is being fully utilized to get the maximum weights
  • Thoroughly inspect material throughout the loading process
  • Comply with all on site cooking procedures to ensure there are no delays
  • Ensure that the mandatory photos are taken and sent with the report to the office
  • Liaise with all other departments
  • Carry out announced and un-announced audits and report findings
  • Comply with all company requirements

 Essential Requirements: 

  • Experience dealing with material inspections within the recycling industry would be a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of all grades of plastic and cardboard would be an advantage
  • Fluent English – both written and oral
  • Full and clean driving licence

Key Requirements:

  • Be approachable and be able to communicate at all levels
  • Have a confident and firm approach
  • Knowledge of Environmental Agency procedures would be desirable
  • Aware of Health & Safety standards
  • Have a strong work ethic with a can-do attitude
  • A high level of accuracy is required due to the nature of this role
  • Be self-motivated and be able to work to tight and challenging deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills in particular Microsoft Office
  • Strictly full-time role
  • Monday – Friday – with flexible approach to working hours
