Paper Prices

Waste paper - or recovered paper as it is better known today - traditionally moves to UK paper mills or overseas mills via a waste paper merchant or the merchanting arm of a waste management company. The letsrecycle.com guide prices shown here are for collection of material by the mills (known as ex-works) and also indicate what a local waste paper merchant might pay for material. Click on the Paper Prices Archive link below for prices from 2000-2009.

Prices are shown for material on an ex works basis, usually baled or supplied to a mill specification. Price guides are compiled by letsrecycle.com and should be taken as an indication of mill prices and are not guaranteed. From June 2010 some of the rarer grades including computer paper, tear white shavings and coloured letter are no longer shown.

letsrecycle.com started publishing export prices in January 2004 and figures are not available in our archive for earlier. We welcome comments on the export market, please email: news@letsrecycle.com

Notes: Merchant prices shown are a guide for material delivered to a local waste paper merchant. Lots smaller than one tonne may receive zero or lower payments and deliveries of several tonnes of material are likely to attract the higher payments especially if this is on a regular basis. Quality of material is important and cleaner and well-presented material can attract a premium.
