Home composting is something that many local authorities and the Waste Resources & Action Programme (WRAP) have tried to encourage over the last few years. WRAP currently offers a subsidy on home composting bins of 30% to local councils but this scheme will end after September 2009.

WRAP is also working on a model to calculate how much waste is home composted each year. If a successful model can be worked out then there is the possibility that waste composted at home can be counted towards LATS contributions.
