Central to all waste collection and recycling collections are the vehicles used to transport the material.
Refuse collection vehicles vary in size and design - such as whether they have one single collection
compartment or several compartments for different recyclates. Some containers can be detached from
the chassis and stored for transport at a later date. This is particularly useful in rural areas or
those long distances from the point of disposal.
Other vehicles have front, side or rear-loading arms to tip the contents of banks or bins directly
into the container. Some designs are specially tailored to high-density urban areas, where space may
be tight.
